Atchison County Community Schools
All SNP Sponsors are required to conduct outreach for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). If your Sponsor does not have SFSP sites, consider posting a link to the site locator tool on the school website or providing the link on a flyer to send home with students. This would allow families to find a location to receive free meals at sites across Kansas. The site locator tool is available at https://cnw.ksde.gov under SFSP, SFSP Locate a Site Near You. Now available: CNW also has summer meal site locator cards available in bulk quantities for program operators. The cards are the size of a business card and contain a QR code that households can scan to access the Locate a Site Near You webpage. Contact Katy Hatch at katy.hatch@ksde.gov to request cards.
Various texting services and hunger hotlines are also available. The automated texting service that connects families to local summer meal sites is 914-342-7744. Individuals can text a question that contains a keyword such as “food” or “summer meals”. Parents and caregivers can also text the word “food” or “comida” to 304-304 to find the nearest meal sites through the No Kid Hungry Hotline. The USDA National Hunger Hotline number is also available – individuals can call 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE to speak with a representative who will find food resources such as meal sites, food banks, and other nearby social services.
ONLINE ENROLLMENT WILL BE AVAILABLE ON JULY 28
Parents can enroll returning students online, when and where it is most convenient for them and in just a few minutes. Parents will have the ability to enter the student’s enrollment information from anywhere they have access to the internet.
To access the online enrollment system, parents will need to log into their PowerSchool account through the PowerSchool Parent Portal (PPP). The Parent Portal grants parents access to their students’ class schedules, attendance records, health records, and grades. Additionally, PPP enables parents to verify household information, including their email address, home address and telephone numbers.

Parents and Students who live out of district who are wanting to attend Atchison County Community Schools will need to complete an application before enrollment will be allowed.
The online enrollment system will go live on Monday, July 28th, 2025.
Powerschool will not be accessible for Parents and Students in order to prepare for enrollment.
It will be reactivated for online enrollment.
SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS
**ALL school supplies are provided for Preschool Students. All they will need is a backpack with no wheels, an extra change of clothes and PE shoes**
NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT WILL BE JULY 29th
New Students MUST enroll on-site on Tuesday, July 29th from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. at the Jr-Sr High School Commons, 908 Tiger Rd. Effingham KS. OR by appointment with your childs building.
PLEASE reach out to the building your child will attend prior to July 29th to communicate your intent to enroll in USD 377 schools. The Building will provide a link to the online portal to complete enrollment forms prior to the on-site enrollment on July 29th.
Age Requirements
The requirement for a child's first enrollment in a Kansas school is governed by state law and the school district cannot exercise any deviations from the law. In essence the law provides:
Entrance Requirements
All students entering Kansas schools must follow Kansas laws for immunizations and inoculations (PDF).
Enrollment Eligibility Requirements
Whenever a child is enrolled in a Kansas district school for the first time, the parent/guardian is required to provide proof of the child's identity. "Proof of Identity" is defined differently for different grade levels.
A child enrolling in preschool, kindergarten or first grade:
A student enrolling in Grades 1-12:
NOTE: If proof of identity is not presented to the school district within 30 days after enrollment, written notice will be given immediately to a law enforcement agency. Upon receipt of the written notice, the law enforcement agency shall conduct an investigation to determine the identity of the child.
